What is self-storage?

Self storage provides a safe, secure way to store items from your home or business when space has become an issue. Storage units can give you a convenient central location to keep anything from boxes of files, business inventory and seasonal items to furniture, boats, cars or RVs. Storage can provide long-term solutions for an overcrowded home, or short-term solutions for a move or clearing out clutter to stage a house for sale.

Do you offer special discounts to select groups?

Yes, we offer a 10% discount to military personnel and non-profit organizations.

What is a climate-controlled unit and do I need it?

Climate controlled storage units are heated and air conditioned to ensure your items are not exposed to temperature extremes. Our climate controlled units are located in a finished indoor building so dirt and dust are less likely to be an issue. This type of unit is perfect for storing furniture, photographs, keepsakes, electronics, as well as other items that can be affected by humidity or fluctuations in temperature.

Do I receive a lock when I rent a unit?

Yes you do! We supply a high quality disc type lock at check in. This style lock is much more difficult to cut off and thereby provides a better level of security for you unit. For your convenience, we offer a complete line of packing supplies (including Uhaul trucks) at our Indianapolis location.

Do you offer dollies or moving carts?

Yes, we do! We are a Uhaul dealer at our Indianapolis location as well as a full service home owner/contractor rental store. We have any equipment or supplies you may need available at our Southport location including the use of a fork truck to help with heavy items.

How do I get my items to my unit?

All of our locations have extra wide entrances and drive aisles, allowing your rental truck or movers easy access to your unit. Hand carts and/or dollies are also available at our Indianapolis location.

How long are your leases?

We offer both month to month and long term leases, depending on your needs.

How often can I access my unit?

We offer 24/7 access to our WhitelandFranklin, and Trafalgar locations. Our Indianapolis location has access to storage units from 5:30 am to 11:00pm daily.

Do you offer a Mover?

No, we don’t. There are movers nearby, but we leave that decision to you.

Can I purchase boxes and packing supplies at your facilities?

Yes, we carry a variety of boxes, locks and supplies to make your move easier at our Southport Rd location.

How can I make a payment?

Payments can be processed by mail, drop box, in person at Southport Rd facility or online. We are members of the Uhaul storage system, so you can visit www.indystore.net or go to Uhaul.com as long as you have a current email address and phone number on file. You may also arrange to have payments automatically charged to your credit card or withdrawn from your checking account each month. Just ask our Manager about this option when you check in.

What size units do you offer and how much do they cost?

We have a wide variety of unit sizes to meet any need. Unit sizes range from 5×5’ to 11×35’ and larger. We also offer outside storage at most locations. Please call us at 317-296-3201 for available sizes and prices.

How do I calculate how much storage space to rent?

Choosing the right size unit will ensure you only pay for the storage you need. Create a list of the items that you are going to be storing. You can stop by our Indianapolis location and our staff can assist in determining the right size for your items. Just give us a brief description of what will be stored and we’ll help you determine the appropriate size unit.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit/debit cards, checks, and cash. You can also arrange automatic payments from your checking account or credit card.

Is there someone at the store I can talk to if I have a problem?

Yes. We have excellent staff on-site at our Indianapolis location during office hours. For assistance at our Whiteland, Franklin, and Trafalgar location, just call 317-296-3201.

Do I have to give notice to vacate my unit?

Yes. We require a vacate notice in writing 14 days prior to the move out date. This notice should include your name, your unit number and the date that you will be moving out.

Do I need insurance?

No, coverage for your stored goods is not required. However, we do offer SafeStor insurance through Ponderosa Insurance Agency for as little as $7.95 per month for $1000 coverage. Please ask our storage agent to explain all the options. Also, please be aware that not all home owners’ insurance policies provide coverage of goods at storage facilities.

Can I pre-pay?

Yes, 5% discount for one year payment in advance!

What does “on-site” manager mean?

We offer an onsite manager at our Indianapolis location. Although they are not “on duty” 24/7, having a person that knows the property well on-site can add peace of mind to your experience and offer some additional security benefits.

What types of security do you offer?

We take great care to protect your belongings. The following security features are available in some combination at most of our facilities.

Video cameras: Most of our facilities use recorded video cameras as a security measure. The number of cameras and the type of system varies based on the design of the facility. Cameras are generally located at entry and exit points, and other areas around the facility.

Electronic Gate System: Our Indianapolis facility has an electronic gate system which can only be opened by a security card or key fob that is assigned to each individual tenant at the time of lease signing. The cards and fobs allow us to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility and safeguard that only customers have access to the property.

Disc type locks: We provide a free disc type lock to all new customers. Disc type locks provide a higher level of security discouraging unauthorized activity.

Fenced & Well-lit Facilities: Most of our properties contain fencing around the parameter to deter intruders and to keep animals off the premises. Our properties are well-lit to ensure your personal security while on-site after dark and to make sure any suspicious activity is visible.

What is a roll-up door?

Roll-up doors are the most common doors found in self-storage facilities. They are accessed by sliding a latch and lifting the door upward, similar to the motion of a garage door. Roll-up doors allow you to maximize the usage of your space. Roll-up doors are featured at Whiteland, Franklin, and Trafalgar. Indianapolis location has a mix of roll up and barn style doors.

Do you offer RV/boat/trailer/car/motorcycle parking?

Yes, we offer indoor or outdoor parking for RVs, boats, cars, trailers and motorcycles at Indianapolis and Whiteland locations.

What is a drive-up unit?

A drive-up unit is an outside, first floor unit that gives you the ability to load your items directly from a vehicle or truck.

What’s the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The office hours are the time in which the Property Manager will be available to assist you with your storage needs or moving and packing supplies. The gate hours are the hours in which you can access your unit.

How far in advance can I book a reservation?

We will take reservations up to 30 days in advance of your move in date. Reservations are secured with a $25 deposit. Although this deposit is non-refundable, it will be applied toward your first month’s rent and is necessary to hold the unit availability and to lock in your rate.
